Rapport Credit Union. We've saved a spot for you.

Becoming a member of Rapport Credit Union is easy. And smart. Membership is open to everyone and you can join online, right here.

Our members enjoy everything the big banks offer (like online banking, ATMs, loans, mortgages, chequing and savings accounts, financial planning and more) only better.

At Rapport, you and your needs come first. Our employees take pride in their listening skills - they want to get to know you, what’s important to you in your life and how we can help you achieve your dreams.

And because Rapport Credit Union is owned by people just like you, our earnings go right back into your community, and let us offer competitive interest rates and products. We aren’t interested in our stock market price, because we don’t have one. Instead, we want to know about you, your life and how we can best help you achieve the things you want.

Convenience. Choice. Service. Savings. A friendly face. They’re all waiting for you as a Rapport Credit Union member. Join today.

Joining is easy.

If you would rather get started now, click the link above to connect online. A Member Assistance representative will then contact you to follow up. Before you get started you should be a resident of Ontario and know we require two pieces of identification to open a membership account. There are different combinations of ID you can use.

Choice 1—Show two pieces of ID from List A:

  • Ontario driver’s license
  • Current Canadian passport
  • Ontario Photo Card
  • Canadian Certificate of Indian Status
  • Canadian Citizenship Card (issued prior to 2012)
  • Permanent Canadian Resident Card

If you don’t have two pieces of ID from List A above, you can:

Choice 2—Show one piece of ID from List A and one piece of ID from List B, below:

  • Employee ID card that includes a photo of the member and issued by a well known employer in the community
  • Old Age Security Card with Social Insurance Number (SIN) on card
  • Canadian debit card or bank card that includes name and signature
  • Canadian credit card that includes name and signature
  • Canadian National Institute for the Blind Client card that includes photo and signature
  • Current foreign passport
  • Canadian Birth Certificate

NOTE: The Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) does not allow the Ontario Health Card to be accepted as ID.

When you become a member, you become an owner.

Rapport Credit Union is owned by its members. Everyone who joins Rapport purchases 10 shares costing $5.00 each, and then continues to hold those shares for as long as they remain a member. Your $50.00 share account is kept separate from other money on deposit, and gets refunded when the account is closed.

So every member shares in the ownership of Rapport. At the Annual General Meeting or any Special Meeting of Shareholders, and subject to Credit Union by-laws, every member 18 years of age or older can vote on any decision or motion requiring a vote. This "one person - one vote" structure ensures that ownership is shared equally, with no one having more say or clout than anyone else

What’s more, when Rapport Credit Union has a profitable year, we pay our members a dividend on their shares.

Rapport Credit Union is a credit union authorized to operate in Ontario, we are not a Bank. Any Banking Account opened at Rapport Credit Union is a credit union Account. At Rapport Credit Union, eligible deposits in registered accounts have unlimited coverage through the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA). Eligible deposits not in registered accounts are insured up to $250,000 through the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA). Learn more about FRSA Coverage here.
