March is Fraud Prevention Month

Financial institutions are seeing an increase in attacks on social media accounts. Rapport wants to remind its members that it is important to be vigilant and safeguard their personal information.

Reminders to keep your personal information safe

Rapport will never ask for your password, account numbers or personal information through email or message via social media.   If you receive a message that seems to have come from Rapport that you are suspicious of, please contact us immediately at 416 925 1107, 1 888 516 6664 or help@rapportcu.ca

These attacks are an important reminder to protect yourself and your information from online fraud. It’s always a good idea to take the following steps to protect yourself and your online information:

  • Use strong passwords that are alphanumeric in nature (a combination of both upper and lowercase letters as well as numbers and special characters).

  • Change your passwords regularly

  • Do not re-use passwords for different accounts

  • Do not click on links, provide money, or confidential information where you cannot independently verify the authenticity of a request.
