Visual Marketing Designer

Position Overview

As an integral part of the Marketing team at Rapport Credit Union (Rapport), the Visual Marketing Designer will fulfill an essential role for the Marketing Department, aiding in the overall achievement of departmental plans and goals.  The Visual Marketing Designer’s primary focus is taking written content and making it visually appealing for both internal and external audiences to support overall content engagement. Supporting the marketing department’s operations and communications both within the organization and externally are equally important for this role.  Your strong design and visual storytelling skills, prior experience in a marketing role and a passion for social media will contribute to enhancing our brand’s visual appeal and engagement with our younger community of members.

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Communications

  • Supports the Marketing Team in daily deliverables, activities and deadlines for campaigns and individual marketing projects.

  • Coordinates regular communications to members using a variety of channels, and manages contact databases in accordance with applicable legislation.

Design and Visual Content:

  • Create visually compelling layouts, graphics, images, infographics, and videos for social media posts, websites, email campaigns, traditional media, and other marketing materials.

  • Design branded templates for social media, presentations, point of sale materials, advertisements, and other marketing materials and ensure consistency in visual identity across all channels.

  • Create new and unique iconography to support communications and marketing programs, turning raw data points into visual stories that are quick and easy to understand.

  • Create dynamic layouts that are visually appealing in a variety of sizes, orientations, and formats.

Support Internal Department Communications

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop unique design templates for internal branded communications, including those for the Board of Directors and its Committees, that are visually appealing and in line with the credit union's brand guidelines for internal communications.

  • Design a wide range of internal communication templates and layouts; including dashboards, imagery, infographics, report styles, presentations, and document templates, with a consistent brand across all internal materials.

  • Coordinate the distribution of internal communications for marketing initiatives through appropriate channels, such as email, intranet, internal messaging platforms, and bulletin boards.

  • Edit and proofread communication materials for accuracy, grammar, style, and consistency. Check that all content adheres to established guidelines and graphic standards.

Social Media Execution:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to support a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Rapport Credit Union's goals and values.

  • Design visually engaging and informative content for various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, incorporating the target audience and advantages of each platform into the design templates.

  • Execute on the distribution plans and content calendars that leverages various channels, such as social media, email marketing, and third-party platforms.

  • Follow up with all direct messages from social media channels with designated subject matter experts within the organization according to our communication standards.

  • Monitor social media trends and stay up to date on platform algorithms to recommend opportunities for optimization.

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary diploma, degree and/or certification in Marketing, Advertising, Business Administration, Communications or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a marketing role

  • Experience in graphic and layout design with a portfolio highlighting a range of designs and styles.

  • Experience supporting a social media strategy with proven results engaging audiences and generating key performance indicators for the business.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong design skills with proficiency in graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, InDesign).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with outstanding proofreading abilities.

  • Familiarity with social media analytics tools and reporting.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining brand consistency.

  • Experience with financial services or credit unions is a plus.
