Member Service Representative (GTA & Thunder Bay)

Position Summary

We are looking for exceptional individuals to join Rapport Credit Union! As a Member Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our members by answering questions and providing quality service through a limited range of financial services (deposits, withdrawals and transfers), while also promoting our products and services. We’re looking for individuals who have a keen attention to detail, organized and are able to manage their time effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides outstanding member service by developing strong member relationships. Greets all members and understand and meet their immediate transaction service needs quickly, professionally and accurately.

  • Operates and balances cash, processes deposits, cheques and other transactions according to established procedures and performance standards with speed and accuracy.

  • Determines member needs on investment with emphasis on cash/certify cheques, order cheques, buy/sell foreign cash, sell traveller’s cheques, personal money orders, receive and process payroll deductions and name and address changes, RRSP and RRIF transactions and set up term deposits. Processes each member transaction and seeks authorization as required.

  • Resolves member inquiries, concerns or complaints in a professional and understanding manner ensuring the needs of the members and the credit union are met. Takes ownership when a member experiences a problem and follow through with required adjustments or documentation and ensure correct implementation. When unable to resolve member’s concerns appropriately escalates to a manager providing all the details.

  • Achieves individual sales/referral goals through internal solicitation following established relationship sales techniques. Explores member’s financial service needs and recommends appropriate products and services with the features and benefits and completes quality referrals.

  • Ensures that security measures are in place at all times. Maintains custody of cash holdings within authorized guidelines. Locks cash drawer and keep passwords confidential. Confirms posting on daily register, balance daily, prepare bank deposits daily and forwards to bank. Adheres to guidelines on hold funds and money laundering.

  • Maintains an up-to-date in-depth knowledge of all Credit Union deposit products and services and relevant policies and legislation with a general knowledge of lending products.

  • Consistently applies all risk and due diligence policies, practices and procedures. Adheres to Credit Union’s Privacy Code at all times.

  • Supports Branch marketing campaigns by ensuring the branch is neat and pamphlets and posters are appropriately displays.

  • Attends to the accurate and prompt preparation of all assigned reports, status checking, investment renewals and internal accounting reports.

  • Assumes and discharges any other assignments as directed.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma or equivalent work experience with at least one year in a financial institution or retail business with experience handling cash.

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to recognize and act upon opportunities for cross selling products and services that meet member’s needs.

  • Strong communication skills and organizational skills with the ability to complete paperwork in an orderly fashion.

  • Excellent computer skills and attention to detail.

  • Valid Driver’s License with flexibility to travel.
