Marketing Content Writer

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and creative Marketing Content Writer to join our dynamic team at Rapport Credit Union. As a Marketing Content Writer, you will play a pivotal role in writing both internal and external communications. Internally, working cross functionally across the organization to collaborate on and write presentation materials for a wide range of audiences within the department, the leadership team including the Board of Directors and its Committees.  Externally, executing on our content strategy by researching and writing a wide range of marketing assets that support brand awareness, engage our members, and promote our financial products and services. Your expertise in content ideation, research, and writing will contribute to enhancing our online presence and supporting our mission to provide exceptional financial solutions to our members.

Key Responsibilities:

Content Strategy Support:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to define, research and write comprehensive materials aligned with the credit union's objectives including membership retention and growth.

  • Support the content calendar, proactively writing new material that incorporates various content formats, channels, and target audiences to maintain a consistent brand presence with our members.

Content Writing:

  • Produce high-quality and engaging written content, including blog posts, web content, articles, social media posts, video scripts, data for infographics, reports and more.

  • Write content that educates, informs, and resonates with our members while maintaining a consistent brand voice and tone.

  • Use member personas to tailor content and messaging to specific audience segments, resulting in more personalized communications.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, sales and product teams, to ensure content aligns with overall marketing initiatives and business goals.

  • Incorporate best practices for search engine optimization (SEO) into written content to improve organic visibility and relevant traffic to our website.

  • Utilize keyword research and on-page SEO techniques to enhance written content discoverability.

  • Be knowledgeable about new and emerging media channels that will help the organization reach its business objectives.

Research and Analysis

  • Conduct research to stay up-to-date with our members, industry trends, financial topics, and competitors' content strategies.

  • Take identified topics and develop a research framework to collect primary and secondary data using sound scientific methods and basic statistical analysis.

  • Identify data-driven trends to write and refine compelling content that addresses the needs and preferences for our members.

  • Collect and synthesise data on our current and potential members. This includes demographic information, financial behaviors, challenges, goals, and pain points.

  • Utilize a variety of data sources, including surveys, market research, analytics, and customer feedback, to inform persona development.

  • Collaborate with other departments to access relevant member data and feedback.

Tracking and Reporting of Marketing Activities:

  • Collect and build reports on the performance of campaigns using both internal and external analytics tools, measuring key metrics, such as website traffic, social media engagement rates, conversion rates, and more.

  • Regularly maintain and update reports for the marketing team and other departments to record the effectiveness of the marketing strategy.

Support Internal Department Communications

  • Conduct research on behalf of different internal departments upon request. Translate complex information into clear, concise, and engaging content suitable for diverse audiences.

  • Collaborate closely with department heads, managers, and other stakeholders to gather information, understand communication needs, and align messaging with organizational objectives.

  • Customize communication materials to suit the unique needs and preferences of different departments while maintaining a cohesive organizational voice

Education and Experience

  • Post-secondary diploma, degree and/or certification in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a writing role for a marketing department, with a portfolio highlighting your range of content types and styles.

  • Proven experience in market research and analysis, taking raw data and turning it into meaningful reports.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of content strategy, audience segmentation, and brand messaging.

  • Excellent research skills to generate valuable and accurate financial content.

  • Proficiency in SEO best practices and content optimization techniques.

  • Familiarity with analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, for tracking content performance.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail.

  • Creative thinking and the ability to generate innovative content ideas.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining brand consistency.

  • Experience with financial services or credit unions is a plus.
