Financial Analyst
Job Summary
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of various key financial statements and monthly reports for senior management. The Financial Analyst will also manage all aspects of Rapport’s corporate external financial and compliance-reporting processes, assist with the coordination of the annual audit process, reconcile and balance of general ledgers and assist with the preparation of Rapport’s annual budget.
Key Responsibilities

Prepares various financial reports such as key branch ratios report, month-end financial statements and statistical reports, maintaining the highest quality, reliability and accuracy.

Prepares monthly asset and liability schedules, month-end tax payments and year-end working papers for auditors.

Responsible for the monthly closing process, including reconciliations and analysis of related accounts.

Extracts and compiles financial data as directed for inclusion in a variety of financial reports including, but not limited to: targets to actual, revenue breakdowns and loan reports.

Compiles a listing of all delinquent positions and submits to credit for validation.

Responsible for the monthly preparation of monthly investment interest reconciliation.

Prepares monthly and annual regulatory reporting with the Financial Services Regulatory of Ontario (FSRA).

Responsible for the reconciliation and balancing of general ledger accounts; proofs entries keyed to general ledgers and ensures ledger is balanced and follows up with discrepancies and resolving, as directed by management.

Assists with the preparation of Rapport’s annual budget.

Participate in preparation of all related reconciliation, analysis and reports required for external, internal audits; will serve as a point of contact with external auditors and ensure effective communication among staff, internal audit and external auditors.

Prepares monthly journal entries.

Oversees the activities within Accounts Payable and provides support and guidance to the Accounts Payable Analyst when necessary.

Prepares accounting records for retention and disposal.

Maintain a list of instructions/documentation on preparation of financial reports and update as necessary.

Update and implement control checks for all financial reports to ensure “one version of truth”.

Assist the Financial Controller on the development and maintenance of presentation materials and dashboards.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Financial Controller, CFO and CEO.
Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Completed or near completion of CPA designation.

Three (3) to five (5) years combined experience in Accounting and Finance.

Previous experience strongly desired in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.

Financial reporting and presentation development.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Advanced knowledge of Excel and MS Office applications (Word, Access, PowerPoint).

Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.

Solid knowledge of accounting functions.
