Financial Advisor/Planner

Job Summary

The Financial Advisor/Planner will attend to the investment needs of Rapport Credit Union (“Rapport”) members and potential members. By understanding the members’ financial objectives, the incumbent will provide counselling services in the area of financial planning and will develop complete financial plans. The incumbent will also be responsible for growing their assigned portfolio of business by attracting new business and retaining existing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides financial planning services to current and future members; develops complete financial plans for members by identifying member financial objectives, gathering processing and analyzing relevant information, developing the financial plan, implementing and ensuring consistent follow-up.

  • Accountable to grow their assigned investment portfolio based on the Financial Planning team’s yearly objectives; including retention of existing business and develops further business opportunities.

  • Promotes, upholds and supports Rapport's mission, vision and Rapport’s strategic plan through development and execution of programs and initiatives to support the financial wellness of our members.

  • Develops cash/investment portfolios for members relating to all registered products through sales of mutual funds based on member’s financial needs; reviews performance of portfolio annually with members.

  • Actively seeks business with both new and existing members through the coordination and implementation of financial planning seminars. This includes the preparation and delivering of the financial planning seminars.

  • Responsible for travelling to branches within assigned region to meet with members and provide convenience and value added services to members.

Required Education, Experience, Training or Certification:

  • Post-secondary education in Business or related field

  • Personal Financial Planning (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) or Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) designation(s)

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working as a Financial Advisor/Financial Planner

  • Minimum five (5) years of sales experience

  • Proven networking, client acquisition and interpersonal skills.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated and up-to-date product knowledge of all Credit Union products, services, policies and procedures; specifically in Investments, Consumer and Mortgage Lending and Marketing.

  • Excellent sales and service skills.

  • Ability to think outside the box and devise creative workable solutions.
